Who We Are

IndianHead Watershed Association (IWA) was established on August 7, 2005.  The organization then applied for nonprofit status in the spring of 2006.

We originally were established to find a means to save the IndianHead Dam from being destroyed.  The dam is in jeopardy as a result of a generalized movement across Pennsylvania to remove all dams along waterways.  However, this particular dam creates a unique area of beauty and recreation for the region with easy public access and approximates the vast network of biking/hiking trails in Montgomery County

By preserving this dam, we in turn preserve this recreational area and exceptional beauty on the Lower Perkiomen Creek for all to enjoy.   IWA also exists to educate the community with respect to this resource, and to advocate with respect to issues that affect the Lower Perkiomen Creek.

Please remember that  NOT ALL DAMS ARE ALIKE

On May 7th, 2006 a meeting was held and officers were elected.
